The Heir to the Seven Killers in the City

Chapter 13: A Moment of Distraction

Meanwhile, the burly man had already taken off running. “Fuck your mother!” Qin Yu’s heart gave a start. “You… go ahead. Go back and tell your boss and second-in-command that I’ll be waiting for them here.” Seeing that Qin Yu had agreed, the man immediately scrambled to his feet, thanked him repeatedly, and ran off in a panic. The rest of the group, watching what had just happened, knelt on the ground in unison, begging for mercy. Seeing this, Qin Yu smiled sidelong, crouched down slightly, and let his gaze sweep over every face. As they averted their eyes, his smile grew wider and wider. “Are you trying to say you’ve never done anything wrong either?” The men froze for a moment, their bodies trembling, before they immediately replied, “Yes, yes, we really haven’t done anything wrong.” “Oh? Is that so? If I find out you’ve done anything wrong, it won’t just be you I’ll kill—your entire family will be buried with you.” Hearing this, the men froze for a moment, then immediately began swearing up and down. Seeing this, the girl standing nearby struggled to make her way toward Qin Yu. After he reached out to stop her, she kept giving him urgent glances and said anxiously, “It’s these people—they’re the ones who killed my sister.” Qin Yu chuckled softly. Just as the men were about to retort, his voice suddenly cut off again. A splash of crimson spattered into the moonlight, and the men’s bodies went limp almost simultaneously, collapsing to the ground one after another. Qin Yu wiped the corner of his mouth with his finger, revealing a faint smile. His face, streaked with blood, looked somewhat eerie in the moonlight. The girl looked at Qin Yu, a chill rising in her heart. “You… you killed them that quickly?” Qin Yu looked at the girl and smiled again, as if what had just happened had nothing to do with him. Having just dealt with those thugs, Qin Yu felt noticeably more energetic and refreshed; every pore seemed to be breathing, and his whole body was filled with an extraordinary sense of comfort. He could clearly sense that his mastery of the Seven Kills Sutra had deepened somewhat. He turned and helped the girl to her feet. Looking at her as she stood in his arms, still somewhat dazed, Qin Yu felt a strange sensation welling up inside him. Having just witnessed her determination to avenge her sister—even though he didn’t know her true identity—he found himself feeling an inexplicable fondness for her. “So, are you able to walk now?” “Mm-hmm, I can.” The girl gazed at Qin Yu with a dazed expression—partly fearful, but mostly filled with gratitude—and the words “thank you” slipped out before she could stop them. Qin Yu was taken aback. He’d come here solely to cultivate the Seven Killers Sutra; in his eyes, these people were utterly depraved and deserved to die—he was merely ridding the world of a menace. Suddenly receiving such a thank-you left him at a loss for words. He simply steadied the girl and said, “Go on. Leave this place quickly—the Fire Scorpion Gang will be here any minute.” “What about you?” “To be honest, I came here tonight specifically for the Fire Scorpion Gang’s boss. Their third-in-command is already dead at my hands; now it’s time for the second-in-command and the boss. This has nothing to do with you—you should leave right away.” Qin Yu said it matter-of-factly, but the girl’s mind was in turmoil, her big eyes blinking rapidly. “What! You mean you killed their third-in-command?” Qin Yu hadn’t expected the girl’s reaction to be so intense. In his eyes, the third-in-command was nothing but a good-for-nothing who couldn’t even withstand a few of his moves. “Yeah, is there a problem?” Qin Yu’s confirmation only made the girl more excited, though she remained deeply concerned. “Do you know what killing the boss means? It means you’ve offended the entire Fire Scorpion Gang. They’ll stop at nothing to kill you.” “What’s there to be afraid of? I’ll deal with whatever comes my way.” “Do you really think you’re some big shot now? You need to know that the Fire Scorpion Gang used to deal in arms. No matter how skilled you are, can you really outmatch a bullet? The Fire Scorpion Gang is incredibly powerful—you’re walking right into a trap. Come with me now.” ”The girl didn’t know where she found the courage, but she suddenly grabbed Qin Yu’s hand and started walking toward the reed beds. After taking just a few steps, however, Qin Yu didn’t budge an inch.
